Overview

A unilateral knee replacement, also called a "unicompartmental knee replacement" or "partial knee replacement," is needed when only one compartment of your knee joint is significantly damaged by arthritis, while the rest of the knee remains relatively healthy, allowing for the surgeon to replace just the affected area and preserve the healthy cartilage and ligaments, resulting in a less invasive surgery with a potentially faster recovery compared to a total knee replacement. 

Why you need it?

Targeted treatment:

Only the worn-out compartment of the knee is replaced with an artificial implant, leaving the healthy parts intact.

Smaller incision, less tissue manipulation compared to a total knee replacement.
